Boudoir Prep: Everything You Need to Know for a Confident, Stress-Free Session

Whether you’ve booked your boudoir session or are just exploring the idea (I hope you book with me!), you probably have a ton of questions. Let’s dive into some of the most common concerns and prep tips to help you feel confident, comfortable, and ready to rock your session.

Pack Ahead:

Pack your bag the night before to avoid last-minute stress. Don’t overthink it! If you forget something, your photographer likely has essentials on hand. I keep a stash of deodorant, lotion, hairspray, hair ties, snacks, and even coffee for my clients.

Wardrobe Ideas:

Bring a variety of outfits! Here are some ideas:

  • Swimwear

  • Plain or satin sheets

  • Fun nipple pasties

  • Thin white T-shirt or fishnets

  • Aprons, bathrobes, or off-the-shoulder sweaters

  • Partner’s clothing for personal touches

  • Sultry dresses, leather jackets, gowns, or robes for a dreamy look

Props can also be fun! One bride brought her crystal collection, and the results were stunning. Even simple things like colorful tulle can add a sexy, unique flair.

Stretch & Move

Boudoir sessions are more of a workout than you’d expect! Stretch beforehand to ease into those poses. Don’t worry—you’ll never be asked to do anything uncomfortable or beyond your physical limits, but preparing your body will make a difference.

Lingerie & Styling Tips

Lingerie:
Choose pieces that make you feel amazing. Boudoir is personal, and your comfort and confidence should come first.

Pinterest Inspiration:
Use Pinterest for wardrobe, posing, and makeup ideas. While your photographer will guide your poses, it’s great to have a vision for your session.

Hair & Makeup:
I offer complimentary hair and makeup with my sessions, and my artists are happy to accommodate your style. If your photographer doesn’t provide this, consider visiting a salon or Sephora. My #1 tip? False lashes—they make a huge difference!

Hair Removal | Tan Lines | Period

Hair removal is entirely up to you! If waxing is new, it’s better to stick with what your skin knows. As for tan lines—they’re a nightmare to edit, so try to avoid them leading up to your session. Period? No worries! If you’re a pad user, wardrobe adjustments can made. Tampons or menstrual cups? No problem. I’ve edited out stray tampon strings and stray hairs more times than I can count—nothing shocks me!

Communicate & Have Fun

This is YOUR moment. Don’t hesitate to communicate any concerns or ideas with your photographer. Trust me, I’ve heard it all, and I’m here to make you feel amazing.
